At HEMS BHARAT NGO, we believe that every girl deserves access to proper menstrual hygiene education and resources to lead a healthy, confident life. As part of our “Her Health, Her Confidence” project, we successfully conducted a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session and distributed Sanitary Hygiene Kits to 50 tribal school students at Ahobilam Tribal School, Nandyal District, Andhra Pradesh.
Breaking the Silence on Menstrual Health:
Menstrual health is often overlooked in rural and tribal communities, leading to stigma, misinformation, and lack of access to basic hygiene products. Many young girls in these areas face challenges like school absenteeism, infections and social isolation due to inadequate menstrual hygiene management.
Our awareness session focused on:
🩸 Understanding Menstruation – Teaching the biological process and normalizing periods.
🩸 Personal Hygiene Practices – Importance of using sanitary pads, safe disposal, and overall hygiene.
🩸 Debunking Myths and Stigma – Encouraging open conversations to remove shame and misinformation.
🩸 Healthy Nutrition During Menstruation – Educating about iron-rich foods to combat deficiencies.
Sanitary Hygiene Kit Distribution:
To ensure these young girls can manage their periods with dignity, we distributed sanitary hygiene kits, each containing:
✔️ Biodegradable sanitary pads
✔️ Intimate hygiene soap
These kits provide a sustainable solution for better menstrual health management among tribal students.
A Step Towards a Healthier Future
This initiative would not have been possible without the support of school authorities, community volunteers . Together, we are empowering young girls with the knowledge and resources they need to stay in school and embrace their health with confidence.
But our mission doesn’t stop here! Through “Her Health, Her Confidence,” we aim to expand menstrual health awareness and provide hygiene kits to more underprivileged girls across rural India.
